BBCET School Raises Money for Charity

Caring pupils at a BBCET school raised almost £100 when they hosted a coffee morning for a cancer charity.

Assisted by Year 6 Class Teacher Sue Hodgson, children at Our Lady and St Anne’s Catholic Primary School baked biscuits and cakes for the event, which was held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The fundraiser was spearheaded by the school’s ‘Mini Vinnies’ group – the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society, which is an international Christian voluntary organisation.

“The day before, the Mini Vinnies, Year 6 children and I made some chocolate-chip cookies and chocolate-chip shortbread,” explained Miss Hodgson. “They were also supported by the kitchen staff, Rachel and Maxine, who made some delicious cakes.

“On the Friday morning, they welcomed the parents into the school and served them with biscuits and cakes, while the adults served the hot drinks.”

The school raised £93.15 for Macmillan, which is the UK’s leading cancer care charity, and supports cancer patients across the country.
